While she is still under her parent's roof, she may have to accept some involvement with this religion. My only advice would be to get a good college education and methodically work on being able to support herself before rocking the boat too hard.

Do "Thousands of JWs die each year" because they refuse blood? I say YES!
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.freeminds.org/blogs/musings-of-a-watchtower-insider/thousands-die-each-year.htm l. this blog article is solely my personal opinion, but i have tried to present important material for your consideration because i believe that one life lost to this blood-ban is one too many and there have too many deaths since 1945 and it's time something is done about it.
however you think on the subject, just wait until you read the conclusion of my blog article.
oh, by the way, all points of view are important to me and most welcome so i look forward to reading them here on jwn .

JP, I think blood transfusions are "reserved for the most dire emergencies". That should be between the doctor and the patient, not some religious body.
One thing a lot of jws don't realize is that refusal of blood is not a pretty picture. Many think they will just drift into unconsciousness, but lack of blood affects the heart. Many die excruciating deaths of cardiac arrest. The pain can be difficult or impossible to control.
Once you have seen it, up close and personal, it is hard to believe that any god approves and requires such human sacrifice.

My Wife's SSD Got Cut Off
by Yizuman inthis morning, i came to discover in great shock that my wife's ssd has been stopped.. yesterday, i noticed her ssd wasn't automatically deposited as it usually does every 3rd of the month.. .
this morning i checked again and it still wasn't there.
so i got on vp and called to inquire what's going on with her ssd.

If they are cutting off her SSD until 2013, that means she owes them around 3 years worth of payments that she was not entitled to. That is quite a bit of money.

I knew a lady who did the same thing as your wife. She was receiving SSD and worked part-time also. On SSD, you can make up to a certain amount of money each month. If you go over that amount, they stop your SSD and consider you gainfully employed. They tell you the amount you can make, up front.
This lady was caught lying about the amount she was making through employment and they took away her SSD for months. After she had payed back about half of what she owed them, they reinstated her SSD, as she was disabled. However, she still has to pay $300.00/month out of her SSD, which they deduct. She nearly lost everything because of it. This was years after she misrepresented her income.
Yizuman, this is the way SSD works, I am afraid. Once a person misrepresents their income to SSD, they will make them pay it back and they do not have much sympathy for the financial hardships that may put the person in.
Your best bet would be to try and negotiate a monthly amount taken out of her SSD with the SS Dept. I wish you and your wife the best, as chronic illness is draining, physically, mentally and financially. Your devotion to your wife is commendable.

Feel the Love ? ... continued
by AK - Jeff innov 15, 1952 watchtower pp.703-704 questions from readers .
questions from readers.
in the case of where a father or mother or son or daughter is disfellowshiped, how should such person be treated by members of the family in their family relationship?p.c., ontario, canada.. we are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from god and his theocratic organization, as was possible and was ordered in the nation of israel in the wilderness of sinai and in the land of palestine.

UR, you are right. The original question just asks about disfellowshipping. Then they switch to apostasy and the desire to kiil those apostate family members. The old bait and switch game. It has got to be the most bizarre article they have written, as Sapphy said. I remember having a visceral reaction to it when I read it the first time and I never forgot it.

Kinda makes it look like sex for hire arrangement, eh? I hate the words "marital due". Sounds like paying your taxes or something.

Why did Abel offer "fatty pieces" to Yahweh?
by easyreader1970 infrom my understanding--at least from my instruction from the wbts--humans were not permitted to eat meat by yahweh until after the flood.
if that is true, then why would abel offer tasty, delicious "fatty pieces" to yahweh?
how would abel even know how to cut up an animal for food and know which parts were the best for eating?.

The witnesses are the only religion that I know of who believes that animals were not predators and people didn't eat animals until after the flood. Most mainstream religions would consider this strange.
It is a conglomeration of stories in Genesis. Nothing else can make sense. Man eats apple. God kills animals to put clothes on man. Abel herds sheep, but doesn't eat them. Abel offers a sheep to appease God. Cain kills Abel.
It sure all goes to hell in a hurry.

I guess witnesses are not excused from the aging process and death, as they think, heh? Nothing physical lasts forever. Look around.
I remember when the generation teaching was changed in 1995. I knew I was screwed.

Difference between "raised in the truth" and "converts" that are now X-JWs.
by Brocephus ini am noticing a difference..... "raised in's" seem to be a little more relaxed and better suited for their world after the kh.
"converts" seem to be a little disoriented.
maybe b/c they saw the truth as away out of this crazy world only to be massive dissapointed.

I agree with LG, if a born-in leaves as a teenager, they seem to assimilate better into the normal world. The longer they are in, the harder it is to start over and buck the system. By the way, I never look to see the ratings of movies before I see them. I just go by interest.
I am a convert and I think having a "normal" life before becoming a witness is a nice bridge to cross back over on. I was attracted to the idea of an earthly paradise and wondering how to raise my child when I joined the madness. Instant friends you could trust, instant friends wherever you went, never going to die, what's not to like?
I also had a grounding in another religion before I joined and that actually helped me to leave. As I realized that the promises the witnesses made were false, it was easy to pick out the twisting of the scriptures they engaged in.
The hardest part, as anyone can see on here, is the turmoil within families that leaving causes. This can happen to born-ins and converts. The saddest ones are those that leave, yet still believe it all. They are in a state of constant turmoil.
